California has experienced blackouts in recent years as a result of wildfires.
President Trump’s tweet blaming Democrats for California’s rolling blackouts was basically right.
As Trump noted this week, it amounts to “intentionally implemented” blackouts when your anti-carbon energy policies leave power generators “unable to keep up with energy demand.” Also correct: A Green New Deal “would take California’s failed policies to every American.”
Overall demand in the Golden State hasn’t been especially high, but clouds and low winds have reduced the output of the solar and wind plants that it’s decided to rely on for as much electricity as possible. The carbon-based plants it’s been closing down aren’t so weather-dependant.
Cali Democrats demanded all-renewables power just as Gov. Andrew Cuomo is here — and Joe Biden has vowed to do nationwide.
As much as the media may want to blast Trump’s tone, the real lesson is: Don’t put all your eggs in one basket — or in solar farms and wind turbines.
